A low-noise multi-channel acquisition board designed for cortical research applications requiring simultaneous recording from large electrode arrays.

  • 32 channels of low-noise amplification with programmable bandwidth and gain.
  • Input-referred noise performance below 5 µV RMS over full recording bandwidth.
  • Shielding and layout isolation preventing digital switching noise from coupling into the analogue stage.
  • High-resolution ADC with sampling rates optimized to capture sub-millisecond spike waveforms.
  • Continuous high-bandwidth USB 3.0 data streaming to host PC acquisition systems.
  • Companion Python library for real-time data streaming, configuration, and spike detection.

Challenge

Routing a 128-channel cortical probe connection on a flexible substrate with trace width/spacing constraints under 50 µm.

Solution

Designed a high-density interconnect (HDI) flex PCB using microvias, ENIG surface finish, and polyimide substrate materials.

Outcome

Delivered biocompatible probe interfaces with high signal integrity and mechanical reliability in pre-clinical studies.
